On our way home from Alpine we received a call from Tanner's mom saying that her brother was in the hospital. He was acting funny and getting a bit dizzy so his wife took him into the Dr.'s. Well, they found out within a few days that he had esophageal cancer and had about 6 months or so to live. Tanner took off for Tucson that next day with his mom and siblings to go see him. The oncologist soon contacted the family and said that the cancer had spread further than anticipated and he had maybe 6 weeks or so to live. Aunt Jane, Uncle Skipper's wife, never left his side. His and Aunt Jane's children and loved ones started pouring in from across the country to be with them at this time, including us. Uncle Skipper passed away on the 12th of July, 2008 with his wife and part of his family by his side. Since his family was all able to be there so quickly, they had the family viewing on the 13th and funeral services on the 14th. All of his children were able to be present. The services were beautiful and fitting for both him and his family and we are very blessed to have him as our Uncle and to have been able to get to know him. We love and miss him and keep his family, especially his Jane Ellen, in our family and personal prayers.
