I haven't posted in a while. Things here are always crazy. Just over a week ago I was fixing Sunday dinner while Tanner was out home teaching and if any of you know my girls you know that they are very much climbers. I've done EVERYTHING I can think of to keep them off of counters and out of cupboards and off the refrigerator and all those fun places to climb. Well, I'd taken all of the climbing things out of the kitchen to ensure safety while working at the stove, but Amanda is SO DANG FAST! I just took everything out of the kitchen, again, and turned the stove top off and was draining potatoes to mash when I looked to the right and saw her climbing onto the STOVE TOP! I dropped the potatoes into the sink and grabbed her, but not before she burned the top of her big toes on the glass-top range. I felt SO bad! I didn't even hear her climbing! She was in the crawling position and that’s how she burned her toes. Well, after screaming for 3 hours and LOTS of cold water and ice packs on her piggies, they were still blistered pretty badly. We called our wonderful Uncle Jake to come help give her a blessing to help her relax and as soon as he walked in and said hello to Tanner at the door, she was calling to him and not crying so much. Our girls absolutely LOVE their Aunts and Uncles!!!! She gave him hugs and he helped give her a blessing and she did calm down a take a bit of a nap, but only while I was holding her. When she woke up the next morning, she had HUGE blisters on her piggies, but she was running and laughing and having fun! The blisters have since split open and we’re doing our best to keep band-aids on them and keep them clean. She enjoys watching the bubbles when we use peroxide after playing outside without her shoes on. Thanks Uncle Jake for helping with the blessing!
On a side note, while hurrying to my room for something, amiss Amanda’s screaming mode of burned toes, I tripped on a rolled up area rug and broke my littlest piggy toe. It isn’t so big now as it was then, or as purple, but it sure does make wearing shoes difficult!!!
School starts on the 6th and Krista and Brianna are counting down the days, although not as much as I am!!! They both love school so much! And I enjoy the time with Deandra & Amanda, and being able to clean a room without the rest of the house being “played” (destroyed) in…Hopefully we’ll all live the next week and a half!!!
